Deserved Praise

From International Socialist Review, Vol.19 No.4, Fall 1958, p.114.
Transcription & mark-up by Einde O’Callaghan for ETOL.

The United Independent-Socialist party ticket in New York deserves praise for making a clean break with the Communist party and rejecting the latter’s proposal that all candidates except Corliss Lamont for US Senate withdraw as the price of CP support. Such support would in any case be a ruinous incubus. The Worker, the party’s weekly organ, has sunk into the most deadly slavishness to Muscovite line, as was evident again (Aug. 17) in its criticism of John T. McManus, the UIS candidate for Governor, because the National Guardian of which he is editor criticized the execution of Nagy and because – worst of sins – he is “cooperating with Trotzkyites.”
