International Socialism, July/August 1970

Noam Chomsky & Franz Schurmann

Letter from Readers

From International Socialism, No.44, July/August 1970, p.35.
Transcribed & marked up by Einde O’Callaghan for ETOL.

Many readers of International Socialism will probably be interested in the Bulletin of Concerned Asian Scholars. The Bulletin is a scholarly-political quarterly published by an international organisation of Asia specialists who are convinced that professional expertise should be combined with ethical and political concerns.

The Bulletin provides the kinds of radical analyses that are too rarely authored in the field of Asia scholarship. In the most recent issue of the Bulletin, for example, Herbert Bix examined Japan’s military-industrial complex; Angus McDonald and Al McCoy exposed Pan American Airway’s odious involvement with American military policy in the Pacific; Carl Riskin analysed China’s economic growth; Ngo Long discussed American chemical warfare in Vietnam; Ed Friedman looked at Chinese foreign policy during the Cultural Revolution; and more, including a portfolio of NLF drawings. Inquiries and subscriptions should be directed to: Bulletin of Concerned Asian Scholars, Rm 305, 1737 Cambridge St, Cambridge, Mass 02138. Subscriptions are $4.00 per year. The introductory student rate is $2.00.
