Manager’s Column

New Format is Part of Plan to Return to Monthly Issue

Fourth International appears in a new format this issue, as part of our efforts for an early return to regular monthly publication. This format reduces both printing and paper costs, which have exceeded revenues from subscriptions and sales in the recent inflationary spurt. There will certainly still be a monthly deficit, but as soon as enough donations are received to meet this reduced deficit, we will resume monthly issues.

Four ways every reader can help are:

We are confident most of our readers will agree that 12 issues a year are more important than maintaining a finer, appearance for only six issues a year. In this period of such electrifying world developments, political analyses such as only Fourth International presents are increasingly important.

During the last few weeks, 17 Canadian readers have renewed their, subscriptions to Fourth International. New subs came from England and Mexico and a renewal from England. Fourth International is read on every continent and in every major country except the Soviet Union.

Here are some comments received from FI boosters: Vancouver, B.C. – “We would like another 10 copies of the November-December issue. The newsstands have asked for more copies. We are doing so well with the FI that we would like to double our regular bundle order.” – E.M.

San Francisco – “Increase our bundle order by 10 copies a month. Also please increase the Golden Gate News Agency bundle order by five copies.” – D. Woods

“I am interested in your work. Could you give a little information concerning membership; organization and activities of the Trotskyists in this country? I became acquainted with this through Fourth International magazine, which has thrown a great deal of honest light on world developments. Keep it up!” – W.S., New Haven, Conn.

England – “I have remitted a British money order for a $2 subscription to Fourth International – May I say how glad I am to have your magazine these times; it’s arrival is a real event.” – K.T.
