Liberation
Liberation (1953-1958) was a magazine published (unofficially) by South African communists and their allies under the increasingly challenging conditions of Apartheid.
Writers included Lionel “Rusty” Bernstein, Joe Slovo, Nelson Mandela, Govan Mbeki, Ruth First and Brian Bunting. Foreign Marxists wrote for it as well.
Liberation was suppressed by the Apartheid government in 1959.
