Two issues of paramount importance confront the developing anti-dogmatist, anti-revisionist communist movement: the question of our theoretical development and the question of the fusion of communism with the workers movement. This paper is the attempt of one organization, the Tucson Marxist-Leninist Collective, to provide an answer to these questions. This answer will not only serve the struggle against dogmatism, which was the struggle that gave birth to our movement, but other struggles as well.
We in the Tucson Marxist-Leninist Collective are concerned with the growth of the empiricist approach to the problem of the theoretical tasks facing our movement. We are likewise concerned with the growth of economist interpretations of the problems of fusion. It would be a hollow victory indeed, if in the correct struggle against dogmatism, we were to win only by falling into either or both of these errors. On the contrary, if we successfully combat these deviations, as well as fight dogmatism and revisionism; then we can be assured that the basis for a genuine communist party will be established.
