Among the new anti-revisionist Marxist Leninist groups, the “united front against imperialism” is the most popular and influential “strategy for revolution” inside this country. In some cases there are very sharp differences among the groups that adhere to or are influenced by this strategy, but these differences are over how to apply or interpret the strategy. This however does not lessen the predominance of this general strategy.
Also, there have been several different critiques of this strategy. In the cases of the ones we have seen the cure has been worse than the disease. This strategy, while lacking any very definite content, serves as a loose framework for many of the harmful notions in the movement at the present time. Hence this attempt at a critique.
Of the various groups that adhere to this strategy, it is the Revolutionary Union which has done the most to put it down on paper and to popularize it. It is for this reason that we “pick” on the R.U. more than the others in this paper. But the polemic is aimed at all those who hold to or are influenced by this strategy – not just the R.U.
