Some notes on the MIA DVD set 2009/10 version 1.1

1. ALL the contents of BOTH DVDs should be copied to your hardrive into a single /mia directory. Accessing data on DVDs is a very slow process. While the DVDs can run in your computer's DVD drive, it is very, very slow. Additionally, links point to the other disk will not work, of course and would require you to swap out the disks. Thus, we ask that you copy the entire contents to the HD on your computer.

Bootup the MIA contents from the index.htm file that was on MIA Disc 1 and is now in the /mia directory on your HD.

2. There are some files and sections of the MIA, that are not on these DVDs because of space considerations. They include:

The Chinese directory
The Arabic directory
The Srpskohrvatski directory
Many of the art files in the /history and /admin directories
Audio files localed in the history/etol directory; and the culture and art section in the history/ussr directory.
Audio files from the Malcolm X collection
The Whats New archives in the /admin directory

We suggest you use a "web downloading" program to simply down load these files from our web site and save them in the /mia directory.

3. Files that are copyrighted may not be reproduced in any manner whatsoever as they are given to the MIA with permission and are not meant for distribution beyond viewing from the DVDs or the MIA internet site itself. Please respect this. Most files, over 99%, may be reproduced in any manner you need or want too.
